11 Things to Check Before Sending Us Your CD Artwork

Once you send us your artwork, we will check for technical details like dimensions, bleed, safety margins, fonts, and resolution. And if we see some flaws, we will make minor revisions if necessary and it will be free of charge. But if your project requires major revisions (say, your artwork has very low resolution), we will send it back to you. To avoid delays, make sure your artwork has all the requirements listed below.

RESOLUTION: The resolution must not be less than 300 dpi.

FONTS: Make sure that everything is displayed in the correct fonts and sizes. And make sure you send us the fonts you’re using  as well.

SPELLING, PUNCTUATION, GRAMMAR. CD manufacturing companies will not check the content. Make sure you’ve proofread everything from the spelling to the punctuation marks.

PAGINATION: Make sure page numbers and pagination are correct. You do not want to see an awkward-looking paragraph or an image sliced in two pages.

COLOR: If the artwork is sent to you for approval via email, there is a big chance that the colors would look different from the actual print. A computer monitor displays color using RGB mode whereas physical print is either CMYK or pantone color. You might want to visit the CD manufacturing company to have a print sample after all the other revisions are made.

TEMPLATE LAYERS: Make sure template layers are removed from uploaded designs.

BLEED: Bleed is the extension of artwork beyond the cut line which gives the printers a margin of error when trimming the sheets. Make sure your artwork has 1/8-inch bleed on all sides.

SAFETY MARGINS: Safety Margin are required to prevent cutting off some important parts of your artwork (text, images, logos). Make sure all essential elements are within the safety margins.

ALIGNMENT: Make sure the alignment and spacing of the photos are correct.  Check whether they are aligned correctly with crop marks.

LOGOS: Make sure the all the logos are included and are placed correctly.

BAR CODE: Is it located on a viewable surface?
