There are CD packaging that look good and there are CD packaging that are really worth collecting because they are way too awesome they can be displayed in an art museum.
Here are some of them:
Table of Contents
MEHTA FOLDING STRUCTURE
A sequential representation of a statement by Rohit Mehta, revealed in steps through the opening of a hexagonal folding system based on a route three rectangle.
The statement can be read either in stages of unfolding, or in its entirety as a spread — a duality of reading order that serves as a parallel to Mehta’s words.
HUDEKI SAKOMIZU FOLDABLE CD PACKAGING
I wanted to make an interactive design piece.
Interactive has been used mostly for user interface related electronic devices recently, but I was making, let’s say, a paper-interactive piece.
I chose some basic origami shapes for both the box and the leaflet itself.
THE DEAD COWBOYS ALBUM PACKAGING
This album design was created to show how we could use an all-recycled paper solution, which is better for the environment than a plastic case.
And to express the emotions and theme of the music allowing the user to feel as if they have a physical product that was worth their hard-earned money.
You can personalize this design by adding each band members face to the slipcase cover and making it a special edition.
CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS
The aim of this project was to make classical music more appealing and exciting for young children.
Based on the Carnival of the Animals, a widely taught piece of music and perfect for young children. The packaging aims to provide a memorable experience for a child.
12- STREETS AND AVENUES
The package is in itself an instrument that can be played by it’s holder.
Creating something that moved, something you can play with, was both intuitive and intentional, it changes the expectations of an object like an album package.
The album design attempts to deliver on lyrics from the album, lines like ‘expand your heart & mind’, ‘may your snakes turn to ladders’ and ‘trying to find the avenues cause your pigeon hole life won’t do’.
