How to get your Shopify store set up with YouTube
A few months back, YouTube Partner Program (YPP) introduced the The YouTube Shopping feature.
This is a game-changer for artists because it enables you to link your official merch store to your Youtube channel.
That means, viewers and fans can check out your products and even make purchases WHILE they’re watching your videos!
Imagine how that would change how artists drop music videos and sell their stuff.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it (it’s really easy!).
Step 1: Join the Youtube Partner Program (YPP)
Before setting up your store, the first thing you need to do is make sure you can “monetize”, and you can do that by joining YPP.
If you’re an established artist with plenty of subscribers, skip this part. You’ve likely monetized your channel already.
If you haven’t monetized your channel yet, then here are the requirements.
Requirements:
- Your channel must adhere to the YouTube channel monetization policies.
- Your channel should be based in one of the eligible countries or regions.
- Your Google Account has the 2-Step Verification turned on.
- Your channel has one AdSense account linked up to it.
Note: If you haven’t got one, then set it up in YouTube Studio when you apply.
Eligibility:
- 1000 subscribers
- 3 valid public uploads in the last 90 days
- 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months OR 10M million valid public Shorts views in the last 90 days
How to apply to the expanded YPP
After you’ve prepared everything you need and ensured that you’re eligible to apply for YPP, you can now grab your laptop or mobile phone.

To confirm that your application has been successfully submitted, check the Get Reviewed step if the phrase “In Progress” has appeared.
The waiting period
After submitting your application, keep in mind that you won’t be accepted then and there. YouTube conducts thorough reviews to ensure that your channel, as a whole, complies with all of their policies and guidelines.
Since all these YPP applications are processed in order of when they were received, there will definitely be a delay in the delivery of their decision. But don’t worry, the wait is not too long since they typically get back to you after a month.
Step 2: Set up Google & Youtube channel on your Shopify Store
Once you’ve been accepted to YPP, the next step is to set up the Google & YouTube channel within your Shopify admin.
It’s a prerequisite before proceeding to connect your store to your channel.
If you prefer, we can handle this for you.
We will simply install an application and connect your Google account and Google Merchant Center account.
After that, you’ll have the ability to sync your Shopify products with Google and move on to the next step.
Step 3: Connect Shopify Store to Youtube
After doing all of the above, you can finally link your Shopify store to your YouTube channel!
Steps to connect your store:
1. Sign in to your YouTube Studio.
2. Click “Monetize” on the left menu then click “Shopping”.
3. Under the “Add products from your store” section, click “Connect store”.
4. Select Shopify and click “Continue”
5. A new page will load where you can click “Go to Shopify”.
Step 4: Connect Youtube Shopping to Shopify
Upon completing all of that, you can now proceed to setting up your YouTube Shopping.
Requirements:
- Your email address for the YouTube channel needs owner or manager access to the said channel.
- Your email address for the YouTube channel needs a staff account with full permissions in your Shopify admin.
- Your Youtube channel needs at least 1000 subscribers.
- Your YouTube channel needs to be approved for monetization.
- Your YouTube channel needs to be marked as an Official Artist Channel, if it’s a music channel.
