Liquid- Filled Vinyl Records

Just a few weeks ago, we featured awesome liquid-filled flash drives.

They were pretty impressive! But would you believe that there are liquid-filled vinyl records? Yes, they do exist, my friends. Liquid inside vinyl records that actually play music.

Welcome to the future where anything is possible and bands are finding more and more ways to shock people. So you might wonder, what about the sound quality and what if the liquid leaks and what if you put it inside the freezer?

We all have the same questions. But actually, this is not something very new. Jack White released a liquid-filled vinyl in 2012.

Take a look:

Jack White- Sixteen Saltines Liquid-filled Vinyl

This was manufactured on clear custom vinyl pressing filled with blue liquid at UnifiedManufacturing Los Angeles.

The quality of sound is not affected at all. There were only 300 copies sold and some copies went for as much as $3,500, would ya believe?

However, they were many reports about the records losing all liquid. The day they went on sale, there were several that leaked.

The staff even flipped the records around to show buyers that they were not getting a defective copy. Well, anything new has its challenges. That’s all right.  Things will improve in the manufacturing of these beautiful invention for sure.

In 2014, Worthless released “Greener Grass” in liquid-filled vinyl that comes in many colors. So far, there’s still no news that it leaked.

The movement of the liquid (which I believe is water and oil) is very hypnotic. If you had a bad day, do yourself a favor by clicking the video below.

Oh the things musicians come up with these days!

No one’s complaining, though. Gimmicks and novelty items are now very necessary for every musician, especially now that almost everyone prefers the convenience of downloads. I say, keep ’em comin’, guys!
