A box set that’s letterpress printed on an antique press from the 1890s? How cool is that! The Melvins, through their myspace, reveals plans for a gigantic and extremely limited box set that they’ll sell at shows and online. The set includes 13 different albums from the Pacific Northwest sludge-rock godfathers, including their new one, The Bride Screamed Murder, out June 1 on Ipecac. And the packaging was printed in just about the most outmoded way imaginable.
The band writes that the box “has been letterpress printed on an antique press from the 1890s. The press is powered by a treadle and fed by hand. Each individual CD package has gone through the press from four to eight times.” These things have to be a tremendous pain in the ass to make, and the Melvins aren’t making many of them: the box is limited to 300 copies. Next month, the band launches a huge North American summer tour; dates here. _____________________________________________________ Unified Manufacturing is an L.A. -based one-stop-shop that offers very affordable CD/DVD/USB replication, custom printing, promotional products, warehousing and fulfillment and many more.
