Youtube has become a platform for ordinary people to express themselves and showcase their talents. Anyone with an internet connection, a camera, and a good, rock-solid talent can show the world what they’ve got without spending money or having the right ‘connections’. That is the very basis of its slogan “broadcast yourself”.
At this point, we should address a basic question. We still need CD’s, DVD’s, audio cassette tapes, or custom vinyl records? It is a shortcut to stardom. In its five years of existence, it has launched many careers from around the globe. I scoured Youtube and the net for my top 7 list of musicians discovered thru Youtube.
Everyone knows Justin Bieber is the biggest musical discovery to come from YouTube so far. His Baby video is the 3rd most viewed video of all time, with over an astounding 170 million views. It all started in 2007 when his mother began posting videos on YouTube so that his family and friends who could not attend his performances could see him sing. He was discovered by his future manager, Scooter Braun. Braun collaborated with Usher and soon Bieber signed a record deal with Island. This video was shot before he was famous.
2.Charice Pempengco

Suddenly, this Little Girl with the Big Voice burst through the computer and into the hearts of millions of people across the globe racking up several million views online. Thanks to David Foster’s recommendation, Charice was invited to perform on Oprah. Oprah was so mesmerized by Charice’s performance that she personally met with Charice to pledge her support for Charice’s career.

They’ve received several million views on YouTube and have drawn attention from media and musicians alike through their postings on YouTube. This emotional video is an acoustic cover of Landslide by Fleetwood Mac.
Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac reportedly cried listening to this video of “Landslide” and invited the students to her concert. Check out their blog to know more about these cute little fellas.sniff.
